Taking care of baby’s hair

From birth baby's hair needs special attention.

Taking care of baby’s hair

Effectively, baby's scalp is still very thin and unprepared for harsh chemicals. Hence, it is essential to use a mild shampoo that is specially designed for babies and has been tested under dermatological control.
An infant's hair gets dirty very quickly due to poorly regulated sebum secretions:

  • Wash hair every day to prevent the appearance of cradle cap.
  • Pour a blob of Biolane Extremely Gentle Shampoo onto wet hair and thoroughly massage it in. Rinse starting from the forehead moving towards the crown. Your baby's hair will be soft, smooth and easy to style!
  • To help get rid of cradle cap, apply Sweet Almond Oil in the evening, gently rubbing it into the scalp. Then in the morning, wash baby's hair with Biolane Extremely Gentle Shampoo.

When baby reaches 1 year old you can reduce the frequency of the shampoos (approximately three times a week).

When is the right time to cut his hair?
If he is almost 18 months old and has a lot of hair, now is the time to cut his lovely curls!!
You do not feel inclined to pay a hairdresser? Here are a few "pro" tips for a successful first haircut:
- Cut hair when it is dry using scissors with rounded tips.
- Carefully comb baby's hair and make partings every two centimetres.
- Then you simply need to take each lock of hair between two fingers and cut the hair that is protruding. Start by going around the ears, then the back of the neck, then around the crown to finish up on top of the head.
Your first haircut will be a success and baby will look gorgeous!!
If baby has fine, thin hair, wait until he is two years old for his first haircut.

If your baby does not have any hair at birth there is no point in using shampoo. However, you do need to massage his scalp every day with Biolane Essential Cleansing Emulsion or Biolane 2 in 1 Body and Hair Cleanser to hydrate it and prevent the appearance of cradle cap.
